O QUE FAZER EM MANAUS?

Black River Bridge

The Rio Negro Bridge began to be built in 2007. Steel and cement were used in sufficient quantity to erect three Maracanã stadiums. Due to the acidity of the Rio Negro waters, pozolana (anticorrosive siliceous material) was added to the concrete used in the stakes and in the tray.

On October 24, 2011, the 342-year anniversary of the capital of Amazonas, it was inaugurated, with 3,595 meters at a cost of R $ 1.099 billion, by former President Dilma Roussef, who guaranteed a promise made before the City: the extension of the Manaus Free Zone for another 50 years and the extension of benefits for the entire metropolitan region, guaranteeing the extension of incentives beyond the Manaus Industrial Pole, allowing a greater development and the beginning of a conurbation between four neighboring municipalities , With the creation of jobs and the preservation of the environment.

The Rio Negro Bridge, the largest 400 meter cable-stayed bridge from Brazil to the river, is the second largest river bridge in the world, surpassed only by the bridge over the Orinoco River in Venezuela. Its total width is of 20.70 meters in the conventional section and 22.70 meters in the stationed part. The track has four traffic lanes, two in each direction, plus the walking strip for pedestrians on both sides. The central mast supports two spans of 200 meters for each side. The diamond-shaped structure is divided into three parts: a cone head-to-head below the board, a cone above the board and the top of the mast. The aerodynamic shape was adopted to reduce friction with the wind.

For the government of Amazonas the bridge goes beyond the monumental architecture, leading the development to the regions of Purus and Solimões river, besides the adjacent municipalities. One example is the production of pottery in Iranduba and the increase of tourism in Novo Airão and other municipalities of the RMM. It is intended to duplicate the Iranduba-Manacapuru road (AM-070), allowing rural producers to connect via the road network to the capital without the need for commercial "interspersers".

Alongside the Teatro Amazonas, the bridge has been considered one of the largest and most important monuments of the Amazonian architecture, which represents a milestone in the integration of the Metropolitan Region of Manaus (RMM), founded in 2007, with thirteen municipalities and about 2 , 6 million inhabitants.
