Thomas Guillot, owner of the Guillot Funeral Home in Taftville, Connecticut recently announced that he’s retiring and selling the firm to another local funeral home owner,  Richard Godere of Godere Funeral Home in Taftville.

The two men have worked tirelessly to provide a seamless transition to the new ownership of Godere-Guillot Funeral Home, according to the funeral home’s website.

Richard Godere a second-generation funeral director who has been serving the greater Norwich area since 1984, with his father opening the family business in 1958. Melissa Godere is a third- generation funeral director who will continue the family business for many generations to come. Together, Richard and Melissa have provided care and compassion for families during their most difficult times.

Richard, his daughter Melissa, Tom Guillot and Tom Neilan will be assisting families at Godere- Guillot Funeral Home located at 21 North 2nd Avenue in Taftville. Together, they will continue to provide families with comfort, dignity, respect and professionalism during their time of need. Families can be assured that all preneed contracts and services will be honored.

Both Guillot Funeral Home located on South B Street and Godere Funeral Home on North 2nd Avenue will continue to serve customers.

With the acquisition, the Godere-Guillot Funeral Home expects to hold 150 funerals a year, Godere told the Norwich Bulletin.
