Sean S.Oakland, CA3609297Mar 14, 2024You don't have to have experienced the wonder that is Brasil to enjoy it here but if you have you'll enjoy it that much more.
It's fast casual but it just makes it feel like any Rio cafe off the beach except there's ample seating in multiple styles; tables outside, booths or benches inside.
They have a lot of taps but I'm there for the cuisine or popping in for an açaí bowl or pao de quejo which are so authentic you'd swear there's an Anitta concert to be seen nearby!

Diane and I met for lunch here today and I'm writing this update at her request because I reread my last review before we met to refresh my memory of what we had and was able to remind her of what she had and what changes she wanted to make. We arrived almost simultaneously, parked in their lot and walked to the restaurant together. When we got there there was a short line, which we joined. We looked at the menus they had by the front door and didn't see the breakfast bowl but by the time we got to the counter we could see the special menu in the rack that had the breakfast bowls. I ordered mine w/ salad and she ordered hers w/ potatoes this time. We shared an order of the Brazilian cheese bread and both had tea to drink, English Breakfast for me and Chai for her. We took our seats after ordering and they brought us the teas and the cheese bread.
The cheese bread came 4 to an order. The texture was a little different from the ones that were made by Brazilian Breads, which used to be on Solano, a little spongier inside, but we both liked it. Next the breakfast bowls were brought, and they were delicious, my salad lightly dressed, a strip of bacon, a hard boiled egg, halved, sliced avocado, three plum tomatoes, cheese, cooked spinach. Diane's was the same, except she had potatoes rather than salad. After she finished she said that the potatoes were good, but that next time she would ask for half potatoes and half salad and that's why she wanted me to write the update.
I used the bathroom after we finished and noticed that both stalls were available for use, which hadn't been the case previous since the pandemic. That's a good change. I thought I knew what I wanted to order but when we went to the counter to order there was a small display holding a printed paper listing three menu items that were new to us. One was a breakfast bowl and that looked really good. It contained a strip of bacon, a hard boiled egg, avocado, cherry tomatoes, cooked spinach and a choice between potatoes, spring mix or rice. That sounded really good. We both ordered it w/ the spring mix. I ordered a hazelnut beignet, which was small, and a cup of tea. I took the beignet and they brought us the rest.
The breakfast bowl was wonderful! I'm so glad we decided to try it. There were different textures and tastes and everything was something I liked. Diane said she would like to try it w/ potatoes, but I was happy w/ it the way I had it. I could see ordering this again rather than the açai bowl or my other usual orders. The woman who brought us our food also cleared our empty dishes, so we didn't have to bus our own. There were just a few people when we arrived at 10:30 but by the time we left there was a long line to order. People w/ dogs were eating outside and an increasing number of people, families, couples, groups, were eating inside.Sep 3, 2022Previous reviewDiane and I met here for brunch again today. It's a place we return to regularly because we like the food and the airy spaciousness of the room, which was more filled today than the past several times we've been here, though still not crowded. The tent which had been set up for dining in the parking lot has been removed and the lot is fully available for parking.
We both ordered açai bowls, a small Olinda for her and a large original for me, w/ a bit of peanut butter added. This time they were served in clear plastic bowls rather than the glass dishes they'd been served in before, I surmise to cut down on water used to wash the glass. We also ordered avocado toast, mine w/ chia seeds and hers w/ raspberries. Because the weather was warm I ordered iced tea, which was served in a plastic to-go cup. I didn't check closely to see whether the plastic ware was plant based and compostable. I hope so. The food was as delicious as always and the people working there were nice, as they have always been.Aug 8, 2021Previous reviewDiane and I had brunch here yesterday, the first time we'd met since the pandemic started. The restaurant's COVID protocols are excellent. Tables are well spaced and there's a sign on the bathroom door that one person is allowed at a time, though there are two stalls. I arrived early to find the parking lot in back largely filled w/ a dining tent. The two remaining parking spaces were filled, but I found street parking readily, as did Diane, who arrived subsequently.
We decided to eat inside, as it was a little chilly outside, both ordering açai bowls as we had before. I ordered two empanadas, the palmito and the one w/ the guava jelly. Diane ordered avocado toast, which came w/ two poached eggs. We had tea to drink. I had mine w/ oat milk, which was tasty. I had a memory of them having Stevia as a sweetener, but this time it was Sweet 'n Low. The açai bowl was delicious and I enjoyed the empanadas. The company was stellar. It felt good to have life return to a semblance of normal. A steady stream of people arrived to partake of the food and pleasant ambiance but the restaurant is large enough that we could space ourselves out safely.Jan 6, 2018Previous reviewKaren W's review brought this place to my attention and Alan told me that it had been reviewed in the East Bay Express, so I read that too. Diane and I had brunch here today. The space is bright w/ natural light from the walls of windows. It used to house Rumbo Al Sur. There's a variety of seating options, from conventional height tables and chairs to higher tables w/ tall stools. Their stated intention is to be a neighborhood hangout and from the many people I saw coming and going, I would say they have succeeded. There were many families, pairs of people of all ages and larger groups. I was warmly welcomed and given menus. I chose a table, then decided the sun would be in Diane's eyes, so I moved w/ the help of one of the staff, who explained the ordering process. Diane arrived soon after and we looked over the menu.
I had decided on a large açai bowl and was inclined toward a couple of empanadas, the Palmito and one w/ cheese and ham. I forget the name. Diane also ordered a large açai bowl and a Romeo and Juliet empanada, w/ guava jelly. Each empanada has its own distinctive shape so you can tell them apart. They serve Mighty Leaf tea and we both got the organic breakfast tea. You order at the counter and take your tea and the empanadas to the table (the young woman who welcomed me and later took our orders helped me carry it) and they bring the açai bowls to the table. Diane had hers w/o bananas and I had mine w/ bananas, sliced strawberries, blueberries and granola, the way it comes. We both started w/ the empanadas, which we liked. My ham and cheese was a little salty, but good and the palmito was tasty too. I'm not sure which I liked better. Diane particularly liked hers, the guava reminding her of her childhood in Hawaii. The açai bowl was wonderfully tasty. The first and last one I had was in Rio and I remember liking it. I would definitely have it again. The tea was delicious. They also sell Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery ice cream, which Alan and I love. One of these days Alan and I will come here for lunch.

I came in here during their first week opening, and it's beautiful to see the growth and consistency. The owner's are nice and always seem to remember me. Insanely elite line up of rotating beer options at all time. They offer flights as well so I usually get to try a 4oz pour of almost all of beer their offering. They also have great food options that range from traditional dishes and pastries like pan de quejo to full meals

Ventured to Paulista seeking authentic Brazilian cuisine and left satisfied. The food, especially the Feijoada and Pão de Queijo, stood out for their taste and authenticity. Service was attentive and fast. There was a separate beer and bakery section.

The Pão de Queijo was delightful. It was cheesy goodness with a crisp outer layer. Tasted like typical Brazilian cheese bread.

Great casual Brazilian place in Oakland.
Met up with friends who recommended the place. They have an extensive menu of small bites, toasts, omelettes, entrees and a ton of beer options. When you walk in, you can grab a paper menu to look at. Once you're ready, you go up and order at the counter, and they'll give you a number to bring to your table.
We ordered the black bean stew entree, NY steak entree, an empanada, and those balls that taste of cheese with a mochi texture (I forget the name right now so please forgive me). Everything tasted amazing, especially the balls. My steak was cooked perfectly. For the table we also ordered wings and those were delicious.
Super chill place to eat and catch up, all in all. Definitely stop by if you have time.

Overpriced and small portions. We ordered the large acai bowl and their size large is literally the size small in most places we've had!
Also tried the Paulista breakfast sandwich which was good but it has more veggies than actual eggs and sausage. They skimped there. The salad it came with was good though.
Overall cute cafe with lots of indoor and outdoor seating however I can't get behind how tiny the portion of acai was for the price. Located in a cute neighborhood in Oakland!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0

R X.San Francisco, CA0964Apr 19, 2024We ordered a couple of Brazilian dishes and the portions were very very small. I was truly baffled by the little cup of rice and tablespoon of farofa on my plate. One of the dishes was also super bland, it simply lacked seasoning, which makes no sense in Brazilian cuisine. Just disappointing. It was hard to justify the prices. The service was friendly.
