I hope I am not the only one whose brain keeps thinking Gelato and expect ice cream here...
This place has been around for decades and gets some mentions in guide books and stuff.
We came here to have a coffee with a local friend, and we ordered some pastries at the counter to try out which are all delicious. The indoor area looks really nice though they are not open in the morning, so we sat outside. The waitress checked on us regularly and gladly brought us refills when asked. There were a lot of flies though, which was rather annoying.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Julie S.Harrisonburg, VA511313Sep 2, 2023
This was a great place to get food when we were hungry and still on a slightly weird time schedule from jet lag. The service was friendly enough, and the food was tasty and quick. I got what ended up being a very flavorful piece of roast pork served on toast, with some olive garnish or tapenade. Really had no idea what I was getting but it sounded OK and I ended up really enjoying it.

Excellent service, super cool ambiance, buzzing with people, the rib-eye was delicious as were the strawberry crepes and salmon sandwich! Menus are available in Portuguese and English. Loved the wood ceiling, black and gold tile, wooden bar style seating and tv's.

Order the cod, it is absolutely delicious. It takes them a little while to prepare it but it is well worth the wait.

Diner style, busy late spot filled with locals. Hot sandwiches, plates and small bites are greatly appreciated after a late flight landed us after midnight. Prices go up after 10pm and it gets crowded. It also means the food is always fresh and hot from the griddle. Must try!

Gelato is an inherently Brazilian restaurant in Portugal!!! The food options are endless and so is the charm.

The food is okay, nothing too special. I think what attracts the crowd about this place is that its open late. Super Late. You can come here at 2 am and grab a meal after drinking or dancing or whatever.
I ate a soup here, it was good nothing too special but compare to other Portuguese food is okay and over priced. Portuguese food is know to be great and cheap, so this place most def not and takes advantage of being open late with nothing around to pump their prices.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aslihan T.Istanbul, Turkey199190395Oct 30, 2016
This place comes from 1960's with its interior design. If one of my students comes with a proposal of designing the whole sitting area with only counters at the architecture department I teach I would criticize a lot. But in this space the idea has been working. The counter continuos in the space like a labyrinth and people sit side by side and Somehow I like it. The space has concept with all material and approaches come from 1960's, the chairs, wooden counter, lights, wall cladding material are very fantastic. Also some accessories from those years and pictures are exhibited in the space. Very interesting and the place got 4 stars because of the interior design and friendly waitress since I didn't have any idea about the food because we step by to have a nice cold bear and yes they have internet which is a very important think when you are traveling.

On the food alone the fourth star is out of reach, but if you need a decent quick meal, very free of pretension, I recommend this place. I ate late dinner here twice on the days when I had nicer lunches earlier and was beat from sight-seeing.
Galeto is a diner and all seating is counter. The counter is easily 100+ chairs, so don't fret about space. The food and menu has not been updated in 50-years. Most of the customers seem happy with this arrangement. Get a prego (steak sandwich) and a glass of wine. Or try the soup which was also old-school but decent.
This place also has 4-menus (entrees, sandwiches, drinks, desserts). I stuck to the sandwiches and soups. Looking at the few people who ordered the larger entrees I was not all that impressed. In Lisbon if you want a full proper Portuguese meal this is not the place, however for a sandwich and soup or something light it works.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
