Located immediately on the shore of the Tagus River and next to the Praça do Comércio, this was the perfect spot for my first sunset in Lisbon. I feel bad that I didn't plan ahead and bring a bottle of wine because that would have been perfect.
My review is for the historical landmark. The restaurant with the same name is 600 meters north on Rua da Vitória. Be sure you're reviewing the right spot.
Cais das Colunas ("the column pier") was the original noble entrance to the city. On these marble steps, heads of state would disembark from their ships to enter Portugal. Picture Isabel II after sailing from England to visit their Portuguese allies. The area was rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake and then removed in 1997 due to expansion of the nearby metro, then replaced in 2008.
From here, expect to see locals and tourists and street artists hanging out in the late afternoon and evening. The view of the harbor, the Christ statue in Almada and even the 25 de Abril Bridge make for an impressive view. There is some seating along the wall.

decided to come eat here because we saw the pizza pics out front. after being seated and ordering drinks, we found out the pizza was out. bummer.
we decided to get different plates, risotto w mushroom, pasta, steak and ham fish. food was decent, nothing special. the pasta tasting like ketchup or tomato sauce mixed in with the spaghetti after being boiled.
the steam and ham were too chewy, not a good sign. the risotto tasted like soup.
this place is average and prob wouldn't go back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
