One executive told me one day, “If I show vulnerability in front of my team, it will signal that I am weak, and you cannot show people, especially the people you are leading, that you are weak.” What amazes me is the fact that this executive believes that he is a great leader and provides mentorship to young aspiring leaders to continue this cycle of misguided leadership. If you want to build a dynamic team, one of the first steps is for the leader to demonstrate vulnerability. It has nothing to do with showing weakness; in fact, it takes a certain degree of strength to show your vulnerabilities in front of your team. By showing vulnerability, you create a culture where: -  Open communication is encouraged. -  Empathy is fostered -  Team relationships are strengthened and    -  People are psychologically safe to raise their hands and say, “I don’t know” or “I made a mistake.” Establishing this culture will lead to a more cohesive and supportive team, one in which members feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and ideas.
