I'm sorry I COULDN'T, 1.5 stars, full review

DNF 73% ... This was so cringe-y! I forced myself to give this a chance after 25%.

Goddess of Rain offers a contemporary interpretation of Greek mythology. As someone who LOVES Greek mythology, I had high hopes for this audiobook. However, I found myself disappointed. The writing style felt immature, and the protagonist, Zoe, seemed overly naive. I would say this is middle grade, not YA.

Zeus with a spaceship? The mighty God of Olympus Zeus, not residing on a mountain but on a planet? It left me thoroughly perplexed. A VERY modern retelling of Greek mythology with a sci-fi twist.

While the combination of Greek mythology and sci-fi intrigued me, it was just weird. The first few chapters were dumb and felt childish.  Zoe's mother reappears done up with "plastic surgery" after "falling off the boat" seeking out her new life with Zeus; she was believed to be dead... from that point on.. I knew not to expect much from this.

The narrative lacked coherence, making it difficult to grasp the overarching plot. It was hard to follow.  I did not enjoy this audiobook. The narrator REALLY struggled with pronouncing the names of the Greek gods, which was SO, SO PAINFUL to listen to. Nevertheless, I persevered until the point where Zoe expressed her desire to save the Earth or protect specific individuals. However, I was confused when Hera appeared on Zeus's spaceship, causing panic and subsequent abandonment. Hermes and Hecate then entered the picture. The purpose of Brandon's combat training or the significance of a certain event remained elusive, as did the importance of the Martians...blah blah blah, what really made me cringe was the mention of Elon Musk and I quote, "Elon Musk ... "yeah he's one of us" and the "intergalactic coverage" for phones... by this point I was just done with the book.

Goddess of Rain reads like fanfiction, riddled with amateurish writing, excessive descriptions of appearances, too many dream sequences, an overabundance of exposition instead of effective storytelling, unnecessary filler scenes, and an overwhelming number of characters. The secondary characters constantly spewed exposition, explaining both the story elements and well-known myths, or at least, well-known to me. The story wandered through dream sequences, meals, and conversations—endless talking. I often found myself losing interest. To be honest, I stopped actively listening around 58% and used the book as background noise until the 73% mark.

This is the first book in the Lost God series and it ends on a kind of cliffhanger

Inspired by Greek Mythology, the story dwells on the parallel existence of humans and Greek gods residing on separate planets. A young girl who thought she lost her only parent is shocked to see her mom dating one of the Olympians.

It was quite fast passed for a fantasy novel category, but I was happy to see all the characters were introduced with patience. By that I mean the author showed us why a certain character is a way he/she is by sharing past instances (best example: Hera) and not just telling us a trait about them without further explanation. My only qualm was I felt they should have completed 1 part of the story before finishing up the book. But it just ended... and now I don't know what happens next!!!

Confession: There are also some references from present-day famous human personalities who are portrayed as Olympians, and it was way too much for my brain to process, so I just ignored that I heard it and moved ahead.

Thankyou for the Audio ARC @netgalley @booksgosocialgroup

Um... I don't even know where to start.

This is probably one of the most bizarre books I've read in awhile, and not for the reasons you may be thinking. The idea of Greek gods and space ships and Martians had potential (I love me some sci-fantasy), but Frkovich just executed it very poorly. I don't think I frown left my face for the entire duration of the book. I was confused and weirded out and unsettled (uncanny-valley type unsettled because these human characters just did not seem human). I wanted to DNF this book so many times but morbid curiosity kept me going.

To start off on a good note, Frkovich described depression really well. As someone who's suffered threw major depressive episode and studies it on a neuroscientific level, the way she described Zoe's actions and feelings during her depression really resonated with me. At one point, she talks about how when someone is suffering from depression, a part of them has died and how much effort it takes to get that part back. I really do applaud her on that.

Now onto the not so good aspects of the book...

Main character Zoe (whose head we're trapped in for the duration of the book) sounds like she's hyped up on cocaine for the entirety of the narrative. She just didn't speak like a normal human being does... in fact none of the characters do. They say absolutely everything that's on their mind in the stiffest language possible. I think Zoe is meant to be 19? She doesn't sound like a 19 year old.

Another thing that's super bizarre is that characters will go off on these long, info-dumpy mobologues that are just really hard to follow. At one point while Zoe is passed out, she reads the mind of her love interest Brandon as he's looking down at her passed out and he basically recites their entire history and why he loves her. It was just... bizarre. I genuinely cannot think of another word to describe what I was feeling while reading this.

It was all telling and no showing. Every character bluntly states how they feel, no body language described, so all I could see was them talking to eachother with straight faces standing stock-still with their arms by their sides (🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️). Zoe is also in love with this guy, Colton, that she's never actually talked to, but oh wait they have talked but she doesn't remember because it was when she was depressed and only part of her actually talked to this guy and fell in love with him... or something. Here's what he said to her on their first date (and this date happens in a dream that turns out to be real): "A snowflake is beautiful, perfect and unique. So I agree. You have snowflake syndrome. You have it bad." And then Zoe says that she loves him. I wish I were joking.

Frkovich also tried to make things exciting by throwing in random action scenes out of nowhere. Like, Zoe and Brandon were sitting in an underground Martian meadow talking about mushy stuff (showing no emotion of course) and then all of a sudden they're being attacked by dinosaurs... on Mars. And then Athena comes and save them by hearing the dinosaurs with her hummer. There are several scenes like this that just come out of nowhere.

And finally, everyone was physically flawless. If it were just the gods that were that way I'd understand because they're gods, right? But no, as soon as Zoe and other humans interacted with the gods, they were given extreme makeovers (think hair extensions, false lashes, manicures, ballgowns, etc.). In true 2010s YA-heroine pick-me style, Zoe outwardly complains about this (but secretly loves it). Frkovich had the chance to make a comment on how certain circles are obsessed with outward appearances and how that can be damaging to an individual's mental health, but of course she didn't. It was just another cocaine-fuelled aspect of this book.

Frkovich was clearly trying to evoked Percy Jackson-nostalgia, but it fell flat... kinda made me hate Greek mythology because of how the characters were portrayed. Sigh, time to play Immortals Fenix Rising again to reignite my love for Greek mythology.

Thank you to Jane Frkovich, Danielle Fliller, BooksGoSocial Audio, and NetGalley for allowing me to listen to a free eaudiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever wanted to read a Percy Jackson and Star Wars crossover fanfic? Or listen to a narrator who sounds like a student reading aloud from a novel in English class, is overly obsessive about enunciating every single vowel and consonant, and who doesn't know how to pronounce an annoying number of words, such as "envelop"? One does not envelope another in one's arms.

The story was all over the place, I lost track of the plot. I followed to the point that Zoe wanted to save the earth, or save certain people, but I got lost about the time Hera was approaching Zeus's ship and everyone panicked and abandoned. Hermes came into it, then Hecate was there. I have no idea why Brandon had to train to fight or what that gala had to do with anything or why Martians were so important. Or what that stuff they stole had to do with anything. Characters were showing up who had no impact on the story, secondary characters were given too much screen time. What in the world did Linnea have to do with anything?

Then not a damn thing really got resolved except Branden and Zoe declaring their love. Eye roll.* We never met Zeus, didn't see Mom again, nothing was resolved with Hecate or Hermes or Hera or even Hades. Or Hephaestus? Athena? What about Liam? The ending was so abrupt, not helped by the lack of any message or credits at the end, no author's notes or about the author or even "thanks for listening" from the publisher. Literally just "the end," done. I don't recall ever hearing an audiobook end like that.

Back to Hades---this "twist" felt rather like it came out of nowhere. It was born of a period of depression we, again, were only told about but never experienced alongside Zoe. It happened in the past and didn't feel entirely relevant to now and the plot of the story. She was sad when her mother left again, but otherwise didn't seem particularly depressed. The unofficial title of Goddess of Rain doesn't land much impact when everything that earned Zoe that title took place off screen in the past.

(Edit: And hey, what is so depressing about rain? I mean, floods suck, but that’s floods, not rain. Rain is essential for life. It rejuvenates, it feeds. Just saying, “goddess of rain” isn’t necessarily equivalent to “goddess of grief and emotional depression.”)

And all the unconscious adventures I'm just going to label dream sequences---I got so confused on what was real and what wasn't. SO confused.

*Also I call cheating on character development---"accidentally" jumping into Brandon's thoughts and being told in detail how he felt about Zoe was not the same as seeing his and Zoe's relationship develop. We were told the deal between them, not shown.

Additionally, the author would often go into way too much detail about what people, especially the women, were wearing and what their makeup and hair looked like. It was important to the gods, sure, I get that, but the reader doesn't care if Hera had gold highlighter on her cheekbones. If we needed detailed visuals, we'd watch a movie.

This novel had a lot of charm and some interesting ideas, but unfortunately it did read like fanfiction. So many rookie writing mistakes---overly descriptive about appearance, heavily reliant on dream sequences, way more telling than showing (just because it's dialogue doesn't mean it's not exposition), meandering through filler scenes instead of escalating tension with relevant plot events, too many characters. Oh my god, secondary characters were barfing up exposition in every scene it seemed. Not just explaining story elements, but regurgitating myths we've heard a million times. Or at least I have. The story dinked around in dream sequences and eating meals, getting made up and talking, talking, talking. I tuned in and out.

The End

I had the ebook and was kindly given a copy of the audio version to review by the author. My reviews are always honest and all opinions are my own. #GoddessOfRain #Jane Frkovich #Audiobook #BookReview #Fantasy #gifted #ad #DanielleFliller

Goddess of Rain is a completely wholesome, light-hearted young adult book with elements of Sci-fi, fantasy and romance and a sprinkling of Greek Mythology thrown in for good measure. I have already reviewed the second book in this series and have to say I stand by the statement that Zoe is one of my favourite main characters in a long time!

Dreaming of finding true love she must first try to navigate Greek Gods and the trouble they cause before she can even consider it. Months of dreaming of being pursued by a man in a iron mask, the nineteen-year-old Zoe is plunged head first into the world of lost gods. Suddenly she realises that Greek Gods are very much still alive and real and running the world and worst of all climate change is kind of their fault.

If all this wasn’t bad enough she finds herself on the run from a god who wants to possess her and goddess who wants her dead, the usual type of misbehaviour the gods of Greek myth get up to. Somehow the make it even worse her fate is connected to the fate of the world. Can Zoe save the planet before its too late? And can she find love in the process?

Now if you asked me a few months ago I would say that romance is not my favourite genre or one I enjoy. However the Lost Gods series came along and I can honestly say I have not enjoyed a series this much in a long time. Zoe is amazing, she is funny and realistic. It was hard not to fall in love with her from the first page. Frkovich has created characters that are not only realistic but loveable, funny and you cannot help but like, even the bad ones! I adore Frkovich’s characterisation of the Gods and Goddesses as well. On top of these amazing characters we have a plot that is tightly woven, at times fun and at times serious. Honestly it’s a joy to read. I didn’t think this series could get any better but I was wrong.

Danielle Fliller provides the narration for the audio book and let me tell you it is perfection! The character intonation was amazing. The way you can literally hear Zoe’s panic, joy and all other emotions just brought these well rounded characters right off the page. It also made me like Brendan I little bit more but I digress. From the very opening I knew the narration was going to make this ten times more enjoyable and by the end it was nearly 100 times more!

I really hope that Fliller will read the next book in the series Underworld Rising (and I will definitely get it) and I cannot wait for further books in this series from Frkovich. I actually think I have been converted to fantasy romance due to this series. 10000/5 from me!

Goddess of Rain by Jane Frkovich is a young adult fantasy or paranormal romance story. The story is about Zoe, a young woman who was at a crossroad in her life and is seeking true love. The story integrates members of the Greek Pantheon with modern Americans. In the company of Greek Gods, Zoe traveled to unexpected places and had some unusual experiences. She was haunted by dreams of a man in an iron mask. There was a goddess who wanted her dead and a God who wanted to possess her. She received sage advice from several Gods along the way. By the end of the book, when Zoe faced a big decision for her future, she applied the lessons and information she had learned to make her choice.

The narrator of this audiobook was a great choice as the voice of our young heroine despite having mispronounced a few words. This didn’t detract much from her overall performance, which included distinct voices for the many characters Zoe encountered. It was a worthwhile way to experience this work of fiction. However, it took a bit for me to really engage with this audiobook. Zoe’s mother seemed rather self-absorbed and overly concerned with superficial appearance. Many of the goddesses were likewise focused on Zoe’s hair, clothing, and makeup. Zoe was focused on boys and love. As the story progressed, Gods that Zoe met did share more meaningful interactions with her and provided her with a sounding board for her thoughts and feelings. Once the story went beyond initial world-building, it became easier for me to connect to the story and its’ characters. Zoe also broadened her focus beyond boys. She was exposed to wisdom which helped her gain a wider perspective. Zoe made good use of what she learned about herself and human relationships and made a decision for her next step in life that was most true to what she really wanted and needed. The author shared a many Greek myths as backstory, which would be quite helpful for a reader who was less familiar with these stories. I often enjoy reading YA literature because it can have more universal appeal. However, Zoe’s single-minded focus on boyfriends and first love is very appropriate for her developmental stage, but less so for a woman in her fifties. While many YA novels delve into such topics while appealing to a wider audience, I recommend this book for readers between the ages of 12/13 - 17 who enjoy fantasy/paranormal romance stories and to fans of series such as Percy Jackson where the Greek Gods are brought forward to modern times. I am rating this 3.5/5 stars, deducting 0.5 due to the rough start to the book. I am voluntarily submitting this honest review after listening to an advanced complementary copy of this audiobook thanks to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial Audio.

By containing Greek mythology / science fiction elements, “Goddess of Rain” was a really intriguing concept with a lot of potential. I do feel like it wasn’t properly executed and would have benefited heavily from a different audience. The writing style read as middle grade, but contained adult themes and relationships that left me confused on who the intended reader was.

The plot moved so quickly I had trouble keeping up because not much was well developed, especially the characters and their relationships with one another. Both of Zoe’s potential love interests were so flat I had little desire to root for either one and her relationship with her mother was bizarre to say the least. I felt as if I was being told the entire plot of the book rather than letting the story unfold for itself. That being said, if you like really fast paced books, this one might be for you.

By the middle of the book, I had grown used to the frantic speed of storytelling and the plot began to hold my interest more, having been more fleshed out. If it were a middle grade novel, I do think it would have been so much better and would have thrived off the mythology/sci fi concept but as a YA/NA ? book, it fell flat.

I did enjoy some parts of the story and am interested in finding out Zoe’s potential godly parentage and how they end up saving the planet in the sequel. Thank you so much to NetGalley for proving an advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. 2.75 Stars rounded up.

If you like Greek mythology and spaceopera, you’ll love this one

It starts as an American version of H2G2 where Earth is about to be destroyed and a girl is whisked away by her Zeus-daring presumed-dead mother to a spaceship inhabited by ancient Greek gods. Except they don’t really get there as the human hijacks the mission in an attempt to save the planet - loved that! This was spaceopera mashed with Greek mythology and in the best traditions of Odysseia the hero - 18yo Zoe - goes travelling from waystations in space to Mars to Greek islands. Loved that Hecate goes by Katie nowadays. The party on Mars and Omedian battle was epic and I liked Hephaistos portrayed as a kind-hearted caring god for a change. The portrayal of the other Greek gods and myths was fun, too. I absolutely loved Zoe and Brandon - heroes should stick together. I have an inkling about both their celestial parentage, but will have to see if I’m right in subsequent books. I quite liked the idea of depressed people’s sadness making them into underworld shades and it’ll be fun to see how the author will make Zoe grow into a Goddess of Rain (the Hyades are nymphs in Greek mythology). Will definitely continue with the series.

Recommended for lovers of clean and sweet YA Greek myths and legends mashed up with spaceopera.

A fusion of mythology, fantasy and sci-fi, I’m all up for anything involving gods. The premise was an interesting one and the fast paced nature of the book will keep you easily listening along (or reading along depending on your chosen format! I had a well narrated audiobook).

If anything, it moves so fast you need to keep your wits about you to keep up! I occasionally struggled to keep hold of some of the threads and I perhaps listened to it a little to quickly to let things sink in but that’s more on me than the book! It’s probably beneficial to slow it down a bit when you read.

The mother daughter dynamic was… a little wierd. It didn’t feel quite right and something always felt off with the relationship. Whether that was with some of the things the mother said or did or the daughters bland responses or numb following, ever since the mother came back from her ‘death’ the whole set up was a little strange. It perhaps added to my indifference for them as I didn’t really connect or feel much for the characters.

Interested to see where the book series goes though. it’s setting itself up to be an intriguing series.

Thank you to the author and publisher for this audiobook on NetGalley in return for my honest thoughts and review.

This is the first book in the new Lost Gods series and the first I've read by this author.

I was completely in love with this cover...so beautiful! And the blurb sounded so intriguing, I just had to grab this one.

I found the writing style really quite refreshing. Quite a unique chatty style which made our narrator and main character really stand out and she felt totally relatable.

Zoe is your average late teen with not much clue where her life is heading and day dreaming about the hot guy she sees out in town. I found it really easy to instantly like her.

The story takes a turn when Zoe's mum (who she thought had drowned) turned up and said she'd been travelling with Zeus - yes, the Greek God Zeus!
Here the story takes a turn and we enjoy a great plot which combines mythology with current climate issues.

I loved the fusion of these two totally contrasting elements which are both so on trend at the moment.

A great start to the series and I can't wait to continue Zoe's journey, especially as we are left on a cliffhanger!

Not long to wait though as I'll be reviewing book 2 soon!

Greek mythology, but make it sci-fi. That’s why I gave this book a second glance, and honestly…it was cute. This single POV story was entertaining—Zoe was a great female protagonist. The world building was detailed enough to be immersive without being overwhelming.

The audiobook narrator was expressive and did a great job differentiating the characters. Her very wide American accent was distracting at times, but she communicated the tone of the story so well.

I really liked the concept. Didn’t like the cliffhanger. Brandon is perfect. We love him. We hate the mom. She’s the worst. It was a light YA novel, providing great connection between the main protagonists, without getting into the heavier topics that are most certainly part of the plot. If that’s your thing, right on. It’s not my thing. But I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Did I see where the plot was going pretty early on? Yes. Did it bore me? No. Will I try to get my hands on the sequel? Maybe.

3.75? stars

This was an interesting, amusing, and reasonably lighthearted exploration of Greek mythology in a contemporary setting. I was initially drawn to the book because of the title and gorgeous cover, and while I wasn’t necessarily expecting to love the story itself, I found myself pleasantly surprised. Some parts were cheesy (the protagonist’s mom met her Greek god boyfriend on Tinder), and other parts were intriguing (a bit of exploration of Hera’s character). The style of writing reminded me more of someone like Scarlett St. Clair than, say, Jennifer Saint, as a point of reference for those who read a lot in this genre (for context, I like the work of both those writers; my preference might just vary depending on my reading mood at a particular moment). All in all, this was a fun read, and since it looks like it’s the start of a series, I’ll be looking forward to the next piece.

Thank you, NetGalley, for granting me a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Goddess of Rain is a contemporary fantasy novel about a wayward young woman who finds herself whisked off to Mars and embroiled in the Greek gods' drama. There's time travel, spaceships, gladiator battles and, of course, a love triangle. It there's one thing that can be said in the book's favor, it's that it's intentionally funny. Goddess of Rain is campy and self-deprecating, and even the narrator has an exaggerated NYC accent (despite the main character being from California). Unfortunately, it's still not quite funny enough to overcome the inherent cringey-ness of such a story. Goddess of Rain reads more like something you'd find on Wattpad than a hit YA fantasy story. And yet, even as I write this, I could still see this appealing to a lot of people looking for a lighthearted read, so all hope is not lost for Jane Frkovich. I just wasn't the right person for this story.

This book was a great read, and that is coming from someone who hasn’t ever really had an interest in Greek Mythology. That said, I was particularly impressed with the way that the author blended the myths and stories about the Greek Gods into the setting in the book. It definitely appealed to me as a reader that it was done so well.
I liked our female lead, Liz, a lot. Her character was well written and developed, so it was easy to become invested in her.
The author’s writing style was good, it had a nice smooth flow to it, which made it really easy and enjoyable to read.
Overall a very good read that I definitely recommend. I hope we don’t have to wait too long for book 2 😊

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review by Love Books Tours.

This was a nice fast paced ya fantasy romance novel.
This book one of a series that features Greek Gods.
The story is about Zoe, who spends her time working at the super market and stalking her crush Colton Chase. One day her mother suddenly appears telling her that she's not dead and had been with her boyfriend Zeus, the Greek God. Her mother takes her to Olympus I order to save her because the world will be destroyed soon.
Now, Zoe will need to figure out how to save the world and escape a god that's been hunting her dreams. Will she be successful?
This was a well written lighthearted story. I love Greek mythology and this one had a lot of it with a mixture of sci-fi, which I enjoyed. Definitely recommend this story for anyone looking to read a lighthearted ya fantasy.

Modern day Greek Gods.
Zoe is still grieving her Mother when she finds out that she is in-fact still alive and went to Olympus with Zeus.
Zoe is quickly brought up to speed on how earth is dying and all the Greek Mythology is true. She is whisked away flying into the stars with her mother and her friend Brandon.
From here Zoe decides she must still try save earth. And to save her long time crush Colton Chase. This leads Hermes, Zoe and Brandon to visit Mars.
Along the way Zoe encounters many Gods and Goddesses. Good vs Evil. Who can Zoe trust?

I thoroughly enjoyed Goddess of Rain. I learnt more about the Greek mythology through the characters and found it very interesting. Looking forward to reading book 2 and seeing where the journey to save earth continues.

I absolutely love Greek mythology stories, and when I read the blurb, I had to read it. Greek mythology infused with sci-fi a perfect combination. This is a cleverly written story about Zoe and her fight to save the earth.

The relationship between Zoe and her mother is a strange one but a necessity for the story. I think the author had done a great job of exploring their relationship. At times, I really did not like Zoe's mother.

I enjoyed the writing style and the quirkiness of the story. Goddess of Rain is a very enjoyable, fun read and highly recommend. Already got the second book, Underworld Rising to read next.

Received audiobook to review from NetGalley. 2.5 stars for the story and a solid 3 for the narration. This was so cringy and reads on the very young end of young adult. The story starts with a young woman who was reunited with her mother and thought she was dead, things go fast from there, and before the reader knows it the mother has disappeared again. The descriptions are a bit overdone and the know-it-all information Zoe has gets annoying about the Gods. If one wanted to read something to do with mythology but not read better written young adult/middle grade (i.e. Percy Jackson) this could work if you can get over the cringe.

Goddess of Rain is a really fun fantasy tale full of mythological characters. I really like how we learn about different mythological creatures and gods as the story progresses. I like Zoe as a main character and I felt a bit sorry for her at different times whilst she is coming to terms with her mother leaving her.

This is a quirky and easy to read series that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is very fun and engaging to read. I am looking forward to book two in the series.

I received a gifted copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion and written voluntarily.

Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this interesting book.

It is a 3.5 but rounded up to 4 for me. I feel like 13-year-old me would've loved this book. 24-year-old me feels it was a bit more for middle schoolers. I love anything with Greek mythology, so it makes sense to somewhat like this.

In the story, it is more of a modern time for the Greek gods. I did like that part as it gave a modern retelling. However, I realize I am not a big fan of sci-fi either. Zoe was sweet but annoying.

I picked the audio version up to see if it would be useful to encourage girls to read this Greek Gods/climate change Sci-fi fantasy with a crushing romance slant. I personally enjoyed the audio book. The story is inventive, (up to date not an ancient Greek God tragedy), fun and the narrator is perfect. Should older YR and YA girls read it? I think if they like romance and adventure then they will enjoy this audio book too. Thank to BooksGoSocial audio and NetGalley for the audio ARC. The views expressed are all mine freely given.

"Goddess of Rain" by Jane Frkovich presents a unique and atmospheric narrative that draws readers into a world of myth and mystique. Frkovich's descriptive prose skillfully evokes a sense of time and place. While the storytelling is rich, the pacing may feel uneven at times, impacting the overall flow. The exploration of cultural themes adds depth, yet some aspects might require more clarity for a broader audience. "Goddess of Rain" earns a respectable three and a half stars, acknowledging its distinctive qualities while noting areas that could enhance the reading experience.

This was my first read by the author. It's a fast-paced story with Greek mythology and an urban fantasy twist. I felt that the main character Zoe was relatable. I could see my own daughter in her. You could tell that the author has done her research and is knowledgeable about Greek mythology. I overall enjoyed the writing style/ book. I can't wait to continue reading the series since you get left on a cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed this book, I have always been fascinated by greek myth and so this book was right up my street.

It was well written with a captivating storyline and well developed characters that jumped off of the page and were all believable. It was such a fun read and the writing was really engaging and had a good flow. I really liked the setting too.

I was disappointed when it ended and I can't wait to see what comes next

Think Greek mythology meet’s science fiction! I would consider this book lower YA due to the writing style and emotional depth but it fun. It’s lighthearted and different from your usual mythology fiction.

The audiobook production was good but the narrator enunciated words a little too much for my personal liking.

But like I said it’s cute, it’s fun, it’s a light lower YA fantasy. If that sounds good to you definitely check it out!

On occasion I read a YA novel to get away from my usual but "Goddess of Rain" was not what I anticipated and thought. I had to force myself to completion on this one as it was roo all over the place for me....spaceships and Greek mythology didn't mix well with my reading. Premise was good but execution in the writing lost me on the one. Not giving up on author as there may be another story by her that may captivate my attention.
