JAC is first Chinese carmaker in Mexico

Jianghuai Automobile Co. has launched vehicle production in Hidalgo, Mexico, thereby becoming the first Chinese automaker to take part in the Mexican automotive industry. It is local partner company Giant Motors that assembles the cars from complete knockdown kits imported from China.

The vehicles will be sold domestically, by local dealer Chori Co. to be precise. However, JAC also considers exporting to the USA in the long term, Automotive China reports. Giant Motors, JAC and Chori are investing up to $235 million. Over the next four years, production should reach 10,000 vehicles.
