DAF XF105 – The Ultimate Driver’s Truck

If ever a truck was built for drivers and operators, DAF’s XF105 is it. Designed by engineers from behind the wheel, instead of behind a desk, and tested in rugged Australian conditions for over 12 months, the new DAF flagship brings an exceptional European heritage to Australian heavy-duty truck owners and operators.

Drivers can expect five-star comfort and ease of operation from the award-winning cab. That’s because the driver was the most important consideration for the engineers. Vision is outstanding, with low sill lines on the doors, a deep windscreen and an integrated aerodynamic sun-visor to keep the glare down.

Each of the four large, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors provide a wide field of vision essential for safe touring and those tricky delivery spots, particularly when using B-double sets.

The smart, wrap-around dashboard places all controls at a driver’s fingertips, with cruise control and auxiliary brake controls accessible without taking their hands from the wheel.

The instrument panel is uncluttered, with essential information presented via soft colour toned, clear gauges. Any exceptions to normal operation are highlighted in the large, high-resolution central information display screen.

To the left, the clearly marked and illuminated sound system and climate control switches are all within arm’s reach, recognisable at a glance and easily operated without the driver taking their eyes off the road.

Drivers can get comfortable for those long hauls with the fully adjustable air suspension seat with fold-up armrest that combines with a chunky, attractive steering wheel that can be adjusted up to 8cms in reach and 30O – 45O in angle.

Large overhead storage bins, deep document trays, drink holders and a slide-out work surface in the centre console make the biggest DAF the easiest to work in.

When it’s time to rest or sleep in the XF105, you’ll think you’re still at home. The lowered engine tunnel means a full 175cm standing height in the Space Cab and an exceptional 210cm in the Super Space Cab. Two beds are provided – the bottom bunk at 210cm is great for a stretch, and the top fold-away bunk is accessible via a foldable aluminium ladder with extra wide rungs.

Even the 15cm thick one-piece pocket spring mattress, standard in the Super Space Cab, was selected by drivers from a range of options as the most comfortable available. Night lighting is amber-tone and indirect, illuminating the floor and central storage area.

Those are some of the reasons why the XF105 was awarded European Truck of the Year on its release.

The rest are underneath. Most importantly, the entire driveline is tailored to the 12.9-litre PACCAR MX engine, which was designed for the global PACCAR network in DAF Truck’s own research centre.  Finding the optimal balance of power and fuel economy, the MX engine is rated at 510hp and offers a thumping 2500Nm of torque, which is available over a wide range from 1000rpm to 1410rpm.

The XF105’s engine complies with the ADR80/03 emission standards with DAF’s SMART injection system and SCR technology.

The XF105 brings DAF Trucks into the B-double market, and its unique combination of exceptional comfort, safety and efficiency means the XF105 will soon feature on the shopping lists of both owner-drivers and fleets.

With the XF105, DAF brings a world-class performer to Australian customers via the strongest dealer network in the country, backed by the giant global PACCAR group.
