Community Weather Information Network (Co-WIN) and Community Weather Observing Scheme (CWOS)

The Community Weather Information Network (Co-WIN) is a joint public education programme between the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) and local universities. It serves as a platform for providing real-time weather information to the public via the Internet. The Network has over 170 members at present.

The Community Weather Observing Scheme (CWOS) has a Facebook group with over 9,000 members. The group welcomes members of the public to join and share weather photos, short clips, time lapse photos as well as weather records, including clouds, weather, astronomy, atmospheric optical phenomena, extreme weather and related information on its impact to public lives, etc.
