Home to Columbia's men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball teams, the Francis S. Levien Gymnasium opened at the start of the 1974 season. With a capacity of 2,700, Levien Gym is one of the larger facilities in the league.

In the summer of 2014, a brand new state of the art playing surface was laid down at Levien Gym with refreshed coloring and updated marks. Prior to the 2008-09 season, Levien was further upgraded with brand-new sideline panels, promoting Columbia Athletics' corporate sponsors.

Levien Gym has drawn some of the largest crowds in the building's history in recent years. On December 2, 2016, 2,271 fans packed Levien to watch the women's basketball team take on UMass-Lowell. It was the largest crowd ever to watch a Columbia women's basketball game.

Since January 2010, the men's basketball team has played to 15 sold out, standing room only crowds.

The Columbia landmark also hosted a piece of history during the 2015-16 campaign, when the Columbia men became just the second Ivy League team to win postseason championship after claiming the 2016 CollegeInsider.com Tournament title in front of 2,703 spectators. The Lions also set a program record for home wins, securing 18 on their home floor that season and have posted 12-straight winning seasons on Morningside Heights.

Levien Gym is part of the Marcellus Hartley Dodge Physical Fitness Center.

Getting to the game:

Levien Gymnasium is located inside the Dodge Physical Fitness Center on the Columbia campus on Morningside Heights in Manhattan.  The main entrance to campus is through the gates on 116th Street; enter here and proceed through campus in the uptown direction.

For men's basketball contests, Levien Gymnasium can be entered through the Northwest Corner Building on 120th Street, just east of Broadway.  Because of the proximity of this entrance to the basketball court, access through these doors is temporarily halted during game play beginning at tip-off.  Once the game begins, guests may enter through these doors only during official timeouts and halftime.  The box office for men's basketball is located on 120th Street, just east of Broadway.

The gym can also be accessed through the Dodge Fitness Center from campus level for men's basketball contests.  This entrance is open throughout the game.

Parking is available on local streets and in private garages on West 120th Street between Claremont Avenue and Riverside Drive, on West 122nd Street just east of Broadway, and on West 114th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.
