One Night Only: Dom Pérignon Hosts a Cabaret-Themed Bash to Celebrate 3 New Vintages

Dom Pérignon sure knows how to throw a party. On Thursday in New York, the Champagne maker staged a sinfully decadent bash to celebrate the release of three new vintages across all three of its expressions: Vintage 2009, P2 2000, and Rosé 2005. “Rarely does Dom Pérignon launch three wines in one year,” explained chef de cave Richard Geoffroy, who hosted the occasion alongside winemaker Vincent Chaperon. Fittingly dubbed the Dom Pérignon Vintage Trinity, it marked the first time in the house’s history that a trio of vintages were launched together.

Needless to say, the Champagne was flowing. Held at the storied Irving Plaza, revelers arrived to floating trays of Dom Pérignon served up by waiters in white tuxedo jackets. Different strands of Champagne made their way through the mezzanine and also the gallery, where Geoffroy was holding court. With a guest list that included Oscar de la Renta’s Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, Naeem Khan, and Pamela Love, everyone was chic and all appeared to have a taste for luxury.

The dimly lit nightclub was transformed with a unique experience offered in each room to illustrate the characteristics of the vintages. In the room serving Dom Pérignon’s 2009 vintage, a duo of poets sat at a desk with a typewriter crafting customized haikus. Upstairs in the balcony, partygoers were met with a maze of mirrors as they weaved their way to the bar in the back. After posing for selfies and pausing to admire a ceiling-high display of the P2 2000 bottles, guests filtered down to the main floor for a one-night-only production that was specially designed for Dom Pérignon by the team behind the famed cabaret destination Manko Paris.

Kicking off the performance was Guinness World Record hula hooper Marawa Wamp, who sauntered out wearing a gold lamé trench coat and the metallic underpinnings to match. Soon thereafter, circus artist Julie Demont performed acrobatic tricks above the crowd before Jean-Biche brought down the house with a grand finale that included a selfie stick video recorded live and projected onto the screen behind the stage. A surprise confetti-drop signaled the show’s big finish.
