Lazio is bathed by the sea for much of its extension. The region overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea for a stretch of coast that extends from Montalto di Castro to Gaeta in the southernmost part.

In the area between Anzio and Terracina, very close to the Circeo promontory, we find Sabaudia (in the province of Latina), a beautiful seaside resort where you can spend a holiday enjoying the sea, the very extensive sandy beaches and the surrounding greenery.

Sabaudia can be reached from Rome through the Pontina, L'Appia or alternatively along the coast road that crosses the various seaside resorts offering us a varied landscape. The receptivity of the area, especially in the high season, is not very high, which is why if you want to plan a holiday in the Sabaudia area, it is good to do it in time.

The waters of the coast are warm, sometimes affected by currents and have, under the coast, a sandy and shallow seabed, so for lovers of fishing and diving it is ; good to move in the areas of the sea oriented towards the Circeo where you can find interesting seabeds and alternation of rocks, rock and sand. The Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Sorresca, is located on the shores of Lake Paola, in a very suggestive spot. The Sanctuary dates back to the twelfth century and its construction is attributed to the Basilian Monks of Grottaferrata. Among the buildings to see inside the town we remember the Casa del Fascio (dating back to the period of fascism), the Palazzo Comunale and the Palazzo delle Poste.

The historic center of Sabaudia was built in recent times (1934), following the reclamation carried out on Agro Pontino, which took place by the fascist government. The architecture of the town is rational and well structured, characterized by linear buildings and large streets and squares built around the heart of the city represented by Piazza del Comune on which the Palazzo del Municipio di Sabaudia overlooks.

Between the city of Sabaudia and the sea, there are four mirrors of freshwater: Lake Sabaudia also known by the name of Lago Paola ( bears the name of the Torre Paola), Lake Fogliano, Lake Caprolace and finally, the Lake of Monks.
