Lord of the Rings star reveals Scottish bloodline as he’s spotted in Glasgow
LORD of the Rings star Viggo Mortensen has made a surprise revelation during a visit to Glasgow.
The Hollywood veteran, who played Aragorn in the hit movie trilogy, has told how he has Scottish ancestry.
Mortensen, 65, revealed that his mother's side of the family were from the west of Scotland.
The actor is attending Glasgow Film Festival for the screening of his second directorial movie, The Dead Don't Hurt.
He looked relaxed as he took to the red carpet outside Glasgow Film Theatre.
Speaking to Clyde 1, he said: "I've only been to Scotland one other time. Maybe two times I've been to Edinburgh.

"My mother's side of the family they're from here, from western Scotland. I've got to look into it more, where they're from and try to find those places."
Asked what his first impressions of Glasgow were, with a smile he added: "I like it."
Mortensen, from New York City, was born to an American mother and a Danish father.
He also has Canadian and Norwegian ancestry.
Mortensen started acting in the mid 1980s and he his other movies include Carlito's Way, The Road, and Green Book.
The Dead Don't Hurt is a Western film based on a 19th century immigrant couple who fall ion love but become estranged due to the American Civil War.
Glasgow Film Festival runs until March 10.
