Open to the public since 2004, the Guindais Funicular operates through a command system that allows the cabins to move between the stations [of Batalha and Ribeira]. Given that this system, consisting of an autonomous system and a control table, was installed several years ago and does not use the latest technology, it is necessary to replace all its components, the company explains in a statement.

In this context, STCP informs that “Porto card holders and Andante monthly subscriptions, with zone PRT1, will have a nine-seat 'shuttle' available, which will guarantee transport between Batalha and Ribeira stations. The service is available every day, between 8:00 and 20:00, every 20 minutes. It is essential to validate the card at Ribeira station, regardless of the direction of travel”.

“The reopening is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024”, estimates the company.

The Guindais Funicular is one of the infrastructures under the responsibility of STCP Serviços, following the Program Contract carried out with the Porto City Council, he adds.

“This year alone, more than 460 thousand people traveled on the funicular, of which around 100 thousand are citizens with a Porto card. and Andante customers”, announced STCP.
