The console broke records on just its first day, with sales of the console, games, and accessories pulling in $250 million.

After the discontinuation, certain PlayStation 2 games quickly became considered "rare," and, as a result, grew in value.

DRAGON BALL Z BUDOKAI 3 LIMITED EDITION

Sony released Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 on November 16, 2004 in North America.

The game lets players choose one of eleven unlockable characters, and then travel around one of two maps.

Players can also choose to partake in battles to either level up or progress the story forward.

Because new copies of this game are not being made and this is considered to be one of the best DBZ titles, that makes this version extremely rare.

According to PriceCharting.com, the title can sell for around $1,000.

RULE OF ROSE

Rule of Rose is a survival horror video game created by Punchline for the PlayStation 2.

The game is set in England in 1930 and revolves around a nineteen-year-old woman named Jennifer.

Experts estimate that there are only around 10,000 to 20,000 copies of this game, making it very rare.

This collector's game can sell for a whopping $1,036, PriceCharting.com estimates.

KUON

Like Rule of Rose, Kuon is also a survival horror video game.

It was developed by FromSoftware for the PlayStation 2 and released in 2004.

The game takes place in Japan's Heian period and follows the actions of three protagonists during an outbreak of monsters.
