Umbro Launch Fluminense 2022 Home Jersey

Celebrating the club’s 120th anniversary, Umbro Brasil launched the Fluminense 2022 home jersey, which arrives in the club’s traditional Tricolour combination. The side debuted the new kit in the Brazilian Championship match at Maracanã against Santos on Saturday.

Few clubs in the world boast a colour combination quite like Fluminesne for their home look; the traditional green, white and red was first introduced two years after the club founded, way back on 21 July 1902, taking over from the grey and white that was in place originally. Thankfully, the club never looked back, and now, 120 years on from their creation, Umbro Brasil honour the anniversary with a shirt that’s embellished with details calling out the milestone year.

The new kit got its debut in the 0-0 draw with Santos at the Maracanã this weekend – the site where the club won the Carioca Championship title last season, defeating Flamengo 3-1 on aggregate.

As for the shirt itself, the design takes over from last season's shirt with some nice new additions, most notably in that collar, on the inside of which you'll find a highlight for the date “July 21, 1902”, while on the outside bar there is a stamp created especially to honour the 120th anniversary of the Laranjeiras club. The players jersey comes complete with all sponsors, as you'd expect – a move that often detracts from the design, but the ‘Zinzane’ wording that runs down the shoulders and onto the sleeves here actually adds a little something that we’re not opposed to, working nicely with the raglan construction and the execution of the stripes. That being said, the women’s clean sponsor-less version is hard to beat.
