Fans have rushed to Gemma Atkinson's defence after she told one of her followers to 'calm down' over their response to one of her recent social media videos. The Hits Radio host took to Instagram to share a video of her partnering with Lyle’s Golden Syrup.

Ahead of Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, on Tuesday (February 12), Lyle’s Golden Syrup has teamed up with Gemma to help families flip their days around for a Tuesday like no other, by starting Pancake Day with an absolutely golden disco.

Gemma has shared how she and her fiance Gorka Márquez will be celebrating the festivities with children Mia and Thiago, as well as the music they’ll be listening to on the day itself - all while looking glamorous.

In the clip, the Bury-born star could be seen in a kitchen, sporting a pair of denim jeans and a white tee, with a few pancakes piled in front of her. She then decided to use some of the brand's syrup and she suddenly appeared looking sensational in a gold jumpsuit from Nadine Merabi.

Gemma, 39, has also created a special ‘Absolutely Golden Hits’ playlist, filled with disco hits sure to have everyone dancing around the kitchen. It’s the perfect soundtrack to Pancake Day, helping families to start their day on a golden note.

Alongside the ad post, she wrote to her 1.9 million followers: "In our house we love two things: dancing and a pancake breakfast! So this Pancake Day, I’ve teamed up with @lylesgoldensyrup to help you throw your own Absolutely Golden pancake disco.

"With the hecticness of modern day life, lots of families don’t get a chance to eat breakfast together and many end up missing out on Pancake Day altogether (not me, I can always fit in a pancake). This Pancake Day, Lyle’s Golden Syrup is encouraging families to spend quality time together, by throwing a kitchen disco at the breakfast table!

"I’ve even created an Absolutely Golden hits playlist, filled with all the disco hits you need to boogie while you get cooking. Add a drizzle of golden syrup and it’s a great way to start everyone’s day on an absolutely golden note!"

But one of the first comments referenced Gemma's healthy lifestyle as they moaned: "An advocator of healthy living in an epidemic of obesity and diabetes. Impressive what we do for a paycheck." But quick to hit back, the mum-of-two said: "Dude, it’s pancake day soon. Part of healthy living (in our house) is enjoying the occasional treat. Calm down."

And she was also quickly defended by her followers. One said: "Ah stop the lights… Ah few pancakes never hurt anyone. We can’t live on miserable salads all the time. Gemma is healthy and fit and having a pancake . I’d hate to see you in a situation where something was a real problem. You would probably implode. Brilliant ad btw you look amazing. I want pancakes now."

Another said: "WOW. Sometimes, if you can’t say anything nice just don’t say anything at all. One of the key things Gemma promotes is moderation and she’s a bloody good role model for teaching balance rather than body shaming. Pretty sure she didn’t invent pancake day either! Bore off." A third added: "Look at what you're posting on your page before you start critising. Gemma is the epitome of healthy living but is not afraid to have a treat as well."
