We are getting ready for #ACODE 91 on Thursday 21 March 2024, hosted by Lynnae Venaruzzo and the amazing team at Western Sydney University. Our topic is: The Future of Work is Here: And Higher Ed. needs to keep up - How are our educators and students being prepared for a digitally fluent future? In this workshop, we will focus on the importance of preparing educators and students for the rapidly evolving future of work. Questions we will explore include: - What would it mean if we failed to equip them with the necessary skills and competencies? - What does an AI enabled workforce look like, and how can our partners such as accreditation bodies and professional associations, help in the digital uplift of students and staff? // The workshop will feature in-depth discussions, panels and presentations, all drawing on real-world examples. The workshop is free and open to staff who work for Institutional members of ACODE. Although we love to talk about Texas, the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) is not the only state-based #highereducation consortium in the U.S. Colleges and universities in many states join forces to advance #internationalization. Because we don’t have a consortium of consortia, it can be challenging to learn from one another. There’s a solution for that — greater networking and openness to share our successes and challenges. With that in mind, TIEC President and CEO, Robin Lerner, and NAFSA: Association of International Educators CEO and Executive Director, Dr. Fanta Aw hosted a virtual discussion between state associations on international education representing California, South Carolina, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, and Kentucky. In just one hour, we at TIEC learned so much. We share common missions, yet we each find different ways to advance our goals. The willingness to openly share was inspiring, and we know we need more of that! As we chart our course through the ever-shifting currents of this interconnected world, knowing we have friends in a community committed to our collective success makes all the difference. In the thriving global landscape of education, Australia stands proudly as a beacon of academic excellence, ranking third worldwide. Yet, within this commendable achievement, a captivating and nuanced tale unfolds within the corridors of the Australian education system. This narrative, explored through the lens of socio-economic disparities affecting young Indigenous Australians, reveals a reality that transcends the nation's impressive global standing. While Australia proudly holds the third position globally in education, a nuanced narrative unfolds within its system, particularly affecting young Indigenous Australians. I am Devanga Kumarage, a third-year student in the COMM2501 course. Throughout my journey in COMM2501, engaging in discussions and actively seeking feedback from peers has significantly contributed to the development of a cohesive and compelling data story. The collaborative insights gained from classmates in COMM2501 have played a pivotal role in refining my data story, contributing to the broader objective of Sustainable Development Goal 4 by promoting inclusive and equitable quality education.
