The same hyper-realistic space physics model will be back as you travel over a free form universe with 16 different solar systems that you will be able to travel across. Inside all of these systems and between them will be computer generated space traffic that can be interacted with. And when we say interact, we of course mean pillage. Okay, so not all of the time, but how do you think you will get some of your ship's weapons and systems? The friendly inhabitants of the galaxy probably won't just want to hand it over to you. Your ship will be customizable with bunches of weapons that you just happen to find on other people's ships. But wait, take down those skull and crossbones flags from your masts me hearties because you can also trade with other ships to gain what you need.
The guys at Particle Systems, who are developing the game by the way, are hoping that they have got the problem of complicated interfaces corrected this time around. A user-friendly interface that will allow for the removal of those messy keyboard overlays has been implemented. A new engineering panel will let you make those repairs and monitor your resources easily and efficiently.
Several different "realistically" modeled ships will be available for your use throughout the game so you won't get bored by just one ship to pilot. With the multiplayer levels of the game, this should make the choice of different ships an interesting one. The multiplayer will be comprised of Deathmatch and team missions.
This next installment of the series is targeted to be available at retail stores this winter. It's a long time to wait, but with their new graphics engine and what they are promising to be a great storyline with dynamic characters, it should be worth it. Keep you fingers crossed and look out for more info as we get and definitely when we see it at E3.
