Considering they're both such regular faces on our screen, it's surprising we haven't ever had a Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult team-up. But that's about to change with the announcement of their new film, The Order

Hanging up their franchise hoods, the pair will bounce off each other in this true crime retelling, which has been dubbed an investigative thriller.

Here's everything we know about The Order.

What is The Order about?

Set in the early 80s, The Order tells the true story of a series of bank robberies, carjackings and criminal exchanges that terrorised communities throughout the Pacific Northwest in the United States. The film will follow as unprepared law enforcement tries to piece together who is committing the crimes and why, as well as the charismatic leader of a domestic terrorist cell plotting a war against the US government.

The film seems to be based on the white supremacist group The Order that operated out of Idaho at the time. An offshoot of the famed Aryan Nations group, it was led by Robert Jay Mathews. Matthews rallied the group to wage a war on the government, stealing money from robbing banks and breaking into peoples' homes and cars. Despite their grand plans, The Order was brought down after they were caught counterfeiting money.

Who will star in The Order?

Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult will head up the cast, with Law taking on the role of an FBI investigator piecing together the motivations behind the string of crimes in the area and Nicholas Hoult playing the charismatic leader of The Order. While it's being described as a true story, so far no character names have been attached. While Hoult is likely taking on the role of Matthews, it's not confirmed whether his actual name and personhood will be used.

The film comes from acclaimed filmmaker Justin Kurzel, whose films Macbeth (2015), starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, and Snowtown (2011) set him up as a director to watch (the less said about his take on Assassin's Creed, however, the better).
