The Simpsons is already the longest-running primetime scripted US series of all time, and by extension, the longest-running animated series in history, and now its going to make that record even harder to break.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the sitcom has been renewed for both season 35 and season 36. That will take it past the 800 episode mark, and into early 2025.
The publication notes that the renewal will keep US channel Fox's Sunday night animation block Animation Domination going, alongside the also-renewed Family Guy and Bob's Burgers.

"Eight hundred episodes — not even The Simpsons could have predicted this," executive producer Matt Selman said.
Fellow producer Al Jean added via social media: "The rumors are true! 800 episodes. Next stop 1000…"
An episode that aired last year featured a flash-forward to a potential future where Lisa had not just one female partner, but two.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Al said that it was entirely possible that Lisa being openly queer could happen in the present day, but it may not happen any time soon.

"In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, that is definitely a possibility for Lisa's life," he told us. "She is open and, you know, somebody who loves everything. Why not?"
Recently, the team paid tribute to Chris Ledesma, a music supervisor who worked on the show from its premiere in 1989 up until he retired last year, after he passed away in December.
The Simpsons is available to stream in full on Disney+ now in the UK. It airs Sunday nights on Fox in the US, with the current season available to stream on Hulu with previous seasons available via Disney+.
