'He ran his fingers through his hair and said how beautiful he was': Michael Jackson's ex-doctor Conrad Murray says star was fixated with medic's baby son and was not allowed to be alone with him

Michael Jackson's former doctor Conrad Murray has revealed how the superstar was fixated on his baby son and would keep a picture of him in his bedroom where he looked at it every day.

The disgraced cardiologist, who was jailed for four years for the involuntary manslaughter of the singer, told Daily Mail Australia that Michael was not allowed to spend time alone with the child.

In a no-holds barred interview, Murray also spoke about how the King of Pop was obsessed with marrying his own goddaughter after developing a crush on her when she was just five-years-old.

The former doctor said he 'scrutinised' Michael's behaviour after the Thriller singer asked him to move next door with his partner, actress Nicole Alverez, and their children.

'I wanted to really scrutinise Michael and make sure he was safe because I had a young child, Che. When Michael met him, he loved the boy, he loved the picture,' he said.

'He kept the picture in his bedroom and moved it to the grand piano where he could look at it every day. He ran his fingers through his hair and said how beautiful his hair was.'

Murray, who served as the pop icon's doctor for three years, said Michael once made a statement which could have been interpreted as something more sinister by 'anybody with a twisted mind'.

And when asked whether the singer was ever left alone with the baby, he said: 'No because the mother of my son would never allow that. Never.'

He said the disturbing collection of pornography - some of which depicted young boys - found at Michael's Neverland Ranch did not surprise him as this was the 'ordinary state of affairs'.

The former doctor, 63, said Michael collected dolls - but never embraced them for pornographic reasons as far as he was aware.

'I saw the images and I said to myself "oh my goodness what are they making of this". This is a joke. If you walked into Michael’s bedroom it looked that way,' he told Daily Mail Australia.

'There were lots of dolls and lots of pictures of children that his fans gave to him. Some dolls he brought himself, he collected the items. But as far as using them for pornographic uses I did not see that.

'This was an ordinary state of affairs. He lived like this. He never embraced the dolls or did anything usual.'

In an interview to coincide with the release of his sensational tell-all book 'This is It! two years after his release from jail, Murray laid bare the grim details of Michael's obsession with young children.

He revealed that the global megastar had planned to marry Harriet, the daughter of friend and Oliver! child actor Mark Lester after developing a crush on her when she was five-years-old.

The former doctor, who met Michael in 2006, said the singer wanted him to go and visit Mark in the UK and discuss a potential marriage when she was 11.

'He developed a crush on her at the age of five and watched her blossom over the years,' Murray said.

In an interview with The Sun on Saturday, Mark said it was 'entirely plausible' Michael said he wanted to marry Harriet because he was in such a state on prescription drugs.

Murray said Harry Potter actress Emma Watson was Michael's next choice if he was unable to marry Harriet.

Michael previously spoke about how he shared his bed with children, but always said there was 'nothing sexual'.

He was cleared of all child molesting claims against him in 2005 following a 14-week trial.

Murray opened up about Michael's death which occurred four years after the trial.

He claimed that the singer was still alive when he arrived at hospital, despite ER medics claiming he was 'clinically dead' at the time.

The disgraced physician, who was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the star's death in 2011, said he stayed at UCLA Medical Center for hours in the hope Michael would recover.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Murray insisted he was not responsible for Michael's 2009 death from an overdose of drugs including powerful hospital anaesthetic Propofol.

He instead placed the blame on paramedics, some of whom testified in court to say the pop icon had 'signs of a dying heart' when he arrived at the hospital.

'I was at the hospital with him for hours. When he got to UCLA they found evidence he was not dead, he was alive, he has signs of life,' Murray told Daily Mail Australia.

'I never left the hospital until 6pm. I took care of the children, the mother, the brothers and sisters and everyone else.'

Murray, who served as the pop icon's doctor and confidant for three years, admitted that he was not with Michael when the global megastar collapsed, aged 50, in his rented home in Beverly Hills.

'I was not present when Michael passed away. I discovered him lying flat, I made every effort to resuscitate him,' he said.

'I didn't know how long Michael was out or whatever happened. What they accused me of doing, putting him on a drip and leaving him alone, never happened.'

'Without a doubt I was wrongly convicted.'

He has previously claimed he was treating Michael for insomnia during rehearsals for his comeback tour, This Is It.

In a TV interview, the former cardiologist said that Michael's last words to him was his begging and pleading to have some 'milk' - referring to Propofol.

Murray was jailed for four years and had his medical licence revoked after he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2009.

The coroner in the case ruled that Michael's death was the result of 'acute propofol intoxication' in combination with sedatives.

During the trial, the emergency room doctor who pronounced Michael dead testified to say the singer did not have a pulse when he arrived at the hospital.

'He was clinically dead,' Dr. Richelle Cooper said during the first week of the trial in 2011.

In an interview to coincide with the release of his tell-all memoir, This Is It, Murray said that Michael was mentally 'wasted', but never spoke about ending his own life.

'All of his money got taken away. I believe mentally Michael was wasted.

'He never spoke about wanting to take his life,' he told Daily Mail Australia.

The former doctor also opened up about the reasons behind Michael's decision to have plastic surgery and change his skin colour.

'Maybe he was harmed so much in his lifetime that he wanted to look in the mirror and see a different image,' he said.

But the physician said he decision to change his skin tone left him susceptible to cancer because he was not able to produce melanin.

He said he no longer has much contact with Michael's family, but he said if children Paris, Prince Michael and Michael Joseph ever have questions about their paternity - they can speak to him.

'I think they saw him as their father. He was a good daddy, whether or not he contributed to them biologically or otherwise. That is something they can talk to me about privately,' Murray said.

'I know of the contributions to all of the children. Male chromosomes contributed towards their existence.'

He also addressed rumours that he might be appearing on reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, saying he was 'open to anything'.

'I have never seen the show, I didn’t ever know what the show is all about. I would have to look at the concept of the show. But I am open for anything.'
