With pressure building on Marco Giampaolo after a fourth defeat in six games, AC Milan have contacted Andriy Shevchenko about the manager role, according to reports.Ā
Giampaolo has endured a nightmare start to life as AC Milan boss and saw further misery piled on his players after a 3-1 home defeat to Fiorentina on Sunday.Ā
And that defeat, according to Tuttomercatoweb, has seen former Milan striker Shevchenko sounded out as a potential replacement with Giampaolo set to be handed one more game to salvage his job.Ā Ā

The club are enduring a difficult start to the new season after four defeats in the last six games
Shevchenko would be a fans' favourite following his highly successful time at the club.Ā
He is currently manager of the Ukraine national team and is under contract until July 2020 following the conclusion of the European Championships.Ā Ā
But given Giampaolo's struggles early in the campaign, Shevchenko may find himself enticed by the lure of returning to Milan.Ā Ā
The 43-year-old had two spells at the club, first from 1999-2006 and then returning on loan in 2008-09.Ā
He has gone down in history as one of the club's greatest ever strikers, winning Serie A and the Champions Legaue and scoring 175 goals in 322 games.
Defeat to Fiorentina, at the San Siro, has ramped up pressure on the manager as he continues to remain bullish about his chances of turning it all around.Ā
Milan take on another side in crisis this weekend in Genoa with their manager Aurelio Andreazzoli also sensing he has one more 90 minutes to prove he still deserves his job.Ā Ā Ā
