This is the shocking moment a Bobbit worm suddenly grabs an unsuspecting fish in its jaws and drags it under the sand.
The footage, recorded in Sulawesi, Indonesia, shows the tiny predatory creature quickly striking a banggai cardinal fish when it swims too close.
After taking the fish in its dagger-like jaws the worm, also known as an Eunice aphroditois, drags it under the surface to eat it.

Video shows the fish swimming over to the Bobbit worm, which is waiting for some prey, and lingering dangerously close to it.
Within seconds the Bobbit worm strikes and slowly pulls the fish under the sand.
This takes a couple of seconds as the fish appears to get stuck and the sand has to expand to let all of the prey in.
Once all of the fish has disappeared a hole opens up where the Bobbit worm was sitting but quickly sinks into the mound on the sea bed.

Bobbit worms are giant carnivorous worms that can grow over a metre long and drag large fish into their underground larder to eat.
They have lightning fast reactions and sit in a burrow waiting to ambush passing prey such as the banggai cardinal fish.
