This 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS N/GT is tipped to sell for between $280,000 and $390,000 when it is auctioned off on September 15. While that may sound like a lot for a 30-year-old Porsche, this is no ordinary 964-generation 911.

As with all iterations of the 911, the 964 model was sold in a plethora of different configurations over the years. Of these, the Carrera RS was one of the more desirable, a car that served as the basis for the even rarer RS N/GT, like this. Various changes were made to the RS to turn it into the RS N/GT, resulting in a sports car that is just as well-suited to street use as it is being pushed to its limits on a racetrack.

Like the Carrera RS, the 964 RS N/GT features a 3.6-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six engine coupled to a five-speed manual transmission and a ZF limited-slip differential routing power to the rear wheels. It was then equipped with Porsche’s ‘M003’ package that adds an aluminum hood, a new wiring loom, lightweight door cards, thinner glass, a welded roll cage, a larger fuel tank, and new carpets. The car manufacturer also installed Nomex racing seats, a fire extinguisher, and six-point harnesses.

This RS N/GT will be offered at RM Sotheby’s Swiss auction and is chassis 499125. It is painted black and sits in 17-inch magnesium alloy wheels. The car was driven sparingly for the first four and a half years of its life, covering just a touch over 500 km (310 miles). After mid-1996, the kilometers started to add up and it now has 40,967 km (25,455 miles) under its belt.

Some welcome modifications have been made to the car. For example, it has coilovers and the original M64/03 engine has had its displacement increased to 3.8 liters, meaning it now delivers 332 hp.
