Frederic Michalak to retire at the end of the season

France's all-time leading scorer Frederic Michalak will retire after this season with Top 14 side Lyon.

The fly-half said the physical nature of the sport is getting "more and more difficult" for his 35-year-old body.

Michalak, who retired from international rugby in 2015 after 77 appearances for France, said: "This would be a good year to stop."

The talented half-back spent seven years at Toulouse and also played for Toulon and South African side Sharks.

"I still have that love for the game but this is a sport where you have to be at 200% physically," Michalak said.

He won three Six Nations Grand Slams between 2002 and 2010 and played in three World Cups.

Michalak set up Yannick Jauzion's winning try after coming on as a substitute in the legendary defeat of New Zealand, external in Cardiff that sent France to the 2007 World Cup semi-final.
