After teaming up with the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron on two luxe residential projects in Manhattan, real-estate mogul Ian Schrager enlisted the Pritzker Prize–winning studio to design a boutique building on a prime waterfront parcel in the West Village. Dubbed 160 Leroy, the curvaceous 15-story stunner is clad in glass and concrete, offering a sleek interpretation of the modernist principles of iconic Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, who inspired the design. The sinuous structure, which wraps around an interior courtyard by Madison Cox Associates, was chosen in part so as to enhance views of the Hudson River and surrounding cityscape.

Although the building’s 49 units are not expected to be complete until the end of 2016, 40 percent of them have been sold. This five-bedroom residence is the most expensive currently for sale; the 12,000-square-foot penthouse (which includes its own rooftop pool) will likely hit the market early next year. Schrager’s in-house team crafted the plush interiors and tapped esteemed French designer Christian Liaigre to develop a special line of furniture that will be available for purchase.
