M.A.C. x Isabel Toledo Is Just as Bright as You Imagined

1/31"Isabel has always been quite inventive [with makeup] and daring in the way she applies color," says her husband, artist Ruben Toledo, whose illustrations decorate the eye-shadow cases and lipstick tubes. And it's Isabel's creativity and fearlessness—as well as her love of textures—that comes through in the products the pair chose for their collection. There are palettes of green and purple eye shadows, colorful mascaras, powder blushes that look like a sunrise and a sunset, and six vibrant red lipsticks (a color Isabel has worn for decades) complete with matching lip glosses. "I see Ruben's watercolor paintings, and I wanted the freedom to do that on my face. I wanted to all of a sudden do my eyelashes in yellow or green with a matching eyeliner, something that's not natural. It's like having the ability to paint. And I mean, if you think about it, women paint every day standing in front of the mirror."
