Kawaguchi Lake is a woodblock print from the Ten Views of Fuji Series. Yoshida was an avid traveler, outdoorsman, and hiker, and he captured the beauty of various scenes through these prints. He took inspiration from 19th-century European watercolorists and added Japanese traditional painting techniques to depict scenes of nature. This print depicts Mount Fuji from the perspective of Kawaguchi Lake near the base of the mountain. The snow on the land around the lake is melting and creating small puddles around the lake. This reveals the environment around the base of the mountain and the weather conditions of the area. The sun is setting in the background revealing a meld of orange and pink colors. This print evokes a sense of peacefulness and Yoshida’s connection to nature.
