Where’s Vigo?

Vigo is on the west coast of Spain, only 30 minutes north of the Portugal border.

It’s the biggest city in its region, Galicia. Galicia has its own type of Spanish language, Galician (or Gallego). It’s a variation of the normal castellano Spanish, and has quite a few differences.

The city center has a population of about 300,000, so it’s a little smaller than Omaha but bigger than Lincoln.

It’s right next to the ocean — something a Midwest girl will have to get used to. Like other coastal towns, Vigo has a strong port industry, has rainy, temperate weather and is hilly. My former roommate told me Spanish people joke that all the Vigo girls have the best “culos” (butts) in Spain because they climb so many hills while going to work, running errands, etc. So, here’s to sculpting a good butt!
