Fresh from her critically acclaimed turn in Tully, Charlize Theron is now gearing up to star in and produce a film based on Fox News’ sexual harassment scandals. The Annapurna-backed project, whose title has yet to be announced, will be directed by Jay Roach (Game Change) and produced by Theron’s Denver and Delilah company. Theron will play Megyn Kelly, the illustrious Fox News anchor who accused Fox News magnate Roger Ailes of sexual harassment in 2016.
The film will apparently be an ensemble piece, with other key Fox News players like Greta Van Susteren, Rupert Murdoch, and Bill O’Reilly also featuring as characters. Ailes’ resignation, spurred by the harassment allegations from Kelly and fellow prominent host Gretchen Carlson, will act as a focal point in the film. Theron garnered mainstream acclaim for her role in another biopic, when she portrayed serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Patty Jenkins’ 2003 film Monster.
