Origins of a Porsche Legend – The 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Development Car

Significant in the making of one of the most important models ever for Porsche, this fluorescent-colored Daylight Yellow 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Development Car served as a testbed for Stuttgart’s engineers.

Now, the “Rennsport” (or RS) badge denotes a series of top-of-the-line, performance-oriented sports cars, but this car can claim to be one of the first. Sporting an experimental paint color and its legendary prototype 2.7-litre flat-six powerplant, watch as RM Sotheby’s specialist Marcus Görig drives this exceptional piece of Porsche history.
