Wondery, an Amazon subsidiary, is launching a new podcast series this holiday season in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises. ‘Tis The Grinch Holiday Talk Show will feature comedian James Austin Johnson, known for his work on Saturday Night Live, as the voice of The Grinch.
This series marks the second collaboration between Wondery and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, following their first series The Cat in the Hat Cast. The podcast series will premiere on Wondery+ on November 1 and will be broadly accessible starting November 6, with episodes released weekly until December 21.
In each episode, The Grinch will engage in conversations with celebrity guests such as Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson East, WWE superstar Cody Rhodes, and actress Skai Jackson. These guests will attempt to impart the Christmas spirit upon the notorious holiday grouch.
Following performances by Boris Karloff, Jim Carrey, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Johnson expressed his excitement and honor in taking up this classic role for the holiday season. He commented, “I have always felt a kinship with The Grinch, and while some actors wouldn’t touch this role with a 39-and-a-half foot pole, I am honored to be the voice behind everyone’s favorite deplorable character this holiday season. Getting into the character’s shoes – or rather, furry green feet – has been a wild and rewarding ride. I can’t wait for listeners to join us live from Who-Ville for some mischief, and maybe even some fun.”
