Status: Stray/Possibly rare resident
NENHP Ranking: S1, Tier 2
Range: The Hoary Edge is found from eastern Texas north to Wisconsin and east to the Atlantic coast. It is recorded from extreme southeastern Nebraska.
Larval Hostplant(s): Herbaceous legumes.
Broods/Flight Times: Two broods. Nebraska records are from June 16 – August 25.
Overwintering: As pupae.
Habitat: Open woodlands.
Avg. Wingspan: 1 3/4 – 1 15/16 inches
Found at: Indian Cave State Park
Similar Species: Dorsally they appear like Silver-spotted Skippers.
Notes: Three specimens were found in 1990 found by Steve Spomer in southeast NE which is at the northwestern edge of its range.
