Majo to Yajuu

This anime is truly amazing! The storyline is full of surprises and very interesting from start to finish. The main characters have depth and development that makes the audience connect emotionally. The visual design and animation are beautiful, with details that enrich the viewing experience. The music also enhances the atmosphere and emotions of each scene The battles and action in this anime are very exciting and full of strategy, making every moment tense. Apart from that, the values of friendship and cooperation are displayed very well Overall, this anime is one of the best I have ever watched in this genre. I'm really looking ... forward to season 2 and can't wait to see how this story will develop further! For anime fans, this is a must watch!"

As I rolled credits, I was left with pretty mixed feelings for this show.

On paper, this show should absolutely be my jam, combing a bunch of stuff together that I really like. But the animation is just so… mediocre. And you can get away with that in a lot of genres, but this is an action heavy show, where almost all of the action is bad.

And don't get me wrong, the actual art style is excellent. In fact, the whole show just has this intangible cool factor about it. Characters are well designed. Everything oozes with style. But then they’ll set up confrontations, ... and I don't know if it's just poor direction or the strained feeling budget or what, but these battles are basically never good. Really stiff and static, oftentimes a little incoherent and there are moments where it just feels like they slid in a coloured splash page from the manga in the place of actually animating the fight scene.

It's looking like a season 2 probably isn't happening either, so I do plan to pick up the manga, as I assume it will have everything I liked about the series and I won't need to worry about the animation. I probably recommend you give this a skip, and just read the manga instead.

Episodes are split into 2-3 episode arcs with very little in terms of overall progression or character growth. Some of the individual stories have an interesting premise, but are let down by lackluster execution and bland characters.

Characters - 6
Overall generic characters with very little growth, and almost no depth. There is one somewhat interesting main character with some depth which is never explored, and some side characters who are interesting, but is let down by poor execution.

Animation - 6
For the most part it is fairly bland ... animation and action sequences leave a lot to be desired.

Sound - 6
Sound quality for action sequences is passable and music is forgettable at best.
