VERY IMPORTANT: These are mesh buildings. Although they're copy/mod, mesh buildings can't be modified on the same way as sculpted or regular prim ones. This buildings have baked textures, this means they're illuminated using light models and the shadow effects are directly "printed" on textures. You can change the textures, but if you do so you will lose the shadows. A mesh building is made with many faces, and this kind of building has different textures for each face, according with the light used to illuminate it. We don't supply any of so called "SHADOW MAPS" like it was usual with buildings made with sculpts, because simply we don't have them. This is a different concept, a different working method. It achieves stunning light/shadow effects, but has some limitations compared to traditional sl structures. However there are impressive modifications in world made by several customers. You must understand that in order to modify this item BUILDING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED.

Amazing builds!
I've searched a lot for the right buildings for a medieval or viking village, this one is the absolute best! Feel free to come see it for yourself in world on my sim. You can find coords in my pics in world.
Beautiful set, comes at an avoidable performance hit.
Like all of the 5 star reviews say, these houses look fantastic and are very low prim, the creator has a great eye for visual detail and a wonderful aesthetic. However, there is one issue.
The texture use on every item in the set is excessive. I don't mean in a way you'd expect for the detail, I mean the creator uses far more textures than should be necessary and it results in very noticeable performance issues.
Almost every surface uses a distinct 1024x1024 texture. The smallest, simplest house in the set uses eighteen such textures. The larger structures use many more than that.
If you're an experienced modder willing to put in a lot of work, you can reduce the texture burden significantly by replacing redundant elements with identical pieces. I removed the interiors and turned the doors into teleporters to skybox building interiors far out of draw distance. Less immersive, but greatly improved framerates both inside and outside of the buildings.
Centipede is hardly alone in these same texture issues affecting performance so if you don't consider it an issue then definitely check the set out. I hope they continue to produce great looking content for SL, but take to heart the need for efficiency not just in Land Impact cost, but in the use of textures and other issues that affect performance.
