Ecological studies on a tropical limpet, Cellana radiata. Structural variations in the shell in relation to distribution

Abstract

Structural variations in the shell of the tropical limpet Cellana radiata (Born) inhabiting the high and low water zones and the exposed and protected surfaces at Palm Beach, Waltair Coast, India, were investigated. Attempts have also been made to study which environmental factors have a marked influence upon the characters of the shell. The results are discussed and are compared with those on temperate climate limpets.
