Hello,

Basically the title. I have a weird issue with Restart/Power Off background color does not follow Accent color in Personalize settings. I personally want it to be Gray color, but it remains in Blue no matter what accent color I choose. I have another PC and do not have this issue.

What I have tried:

  1. Boot in Safe mode and Clean boot - same issue.
  2. Update to the latest version of Windows (20H0).
  3. Reinstall Video card drivers/disable Video Card and make Windows to use generic video driver.

My specs:

Lenovo X220 laptop, Windows 10 x64 Pro

I have another PC (Win 10 64 Pro) and all aforementioned screens background color follow Accent color, as on this video:

Yes I have solved my issue. It was simple, actually. You guys probably also installed 3rd themes support, do not you? The issue was that we all have deleted too much in registry. In order to solve the issue, you need to delete everything but "Default" values.

    Go here:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\DefaultColors

"HighContrast" & "Standard" folders should be preserved, as well as "Default" value in both of them. All other values should be deleted. Please see screenshot for details.119262-preserve-these-folders.png

If you have made the same mistake as me and deleted those two folders completely, please use file I provided in the attachment.

Download .log file and rename it to .reg file. Run it by double click and agree on adding values to registry to restore those two folders and their original values. If you afraid, you can open .log file before renaming it in order to check that there is no malicious content in it ;D. After restoring the folders and their old values, delete every value in "HighContrast" and "Standard", but "Default" value as shown on the screenshot in order for 3rd party themes work normally.

    This is it.

    Hello @Sempiro

How about changing background color via registry :

    HKCU\Control Panel\Colors\Background

It's a string with a space between the numbers for red/green/blue, for instance for straight blue: "0 0 255"

    Best Regards
    Karlie

This is really pissing me off. Happening to me also. Worked correctly for years. I manage a bunch of computers in Fire engines and ambulances. If they need to reboot the computer at 2am in the vehicle, I can't have some obnoxious bright blue color blind their night vision.
