First edition of this oriental tale, printed in an edition of 170 copies on Arches wove paper, entirely drawn up by François-Louis SCHMIED (1873-1941), who illustrated it with 649 woodcut compositions, including hundreds of "bouts de lignes", 132 bandeaux, a color frontispiece and 13 full-page color compositions. Each copy is signed by the artist at the justification and on the frontispiece. Another edition illustrated by Schmied appeared at the same time as this one, with different illustrations. Limited to 25 copies, it is also described as a "first edition" in the justification and bears the same "achevé d'imprimer" dated September 30, 1927. Cover and slipcase damaged.
