This Porsche 911 Carrera RS (1973) got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS is one of 1,580 examples produced and is finished in Grand Prix White with blue exterior trim over a black leatherette interior. The current owner purchased the car in 2013 and subsequently commissioned a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment. Work conducted by PBR Restorations of Crockett, California in 2014 and 2015 included a rebuild of the numbers-matching 2.7-liter flat-six, as well as an interior freshening. A repaint in the factory color combination was also performed. The car retains its original Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle and factory options, including corduroy seats with headrests, a Blaupunkt stereo, and stainless steel muffler skirt. The car won first in class at the 2018 Carmel Concours on the Avenue and was displayed at The Quail Motorsports Gathering in 2017. This Carrera RS is now offered on dealer consignment with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, refurbishment records, a tool kit, factory literature, and a clean California title.

The Carrera RS was based on the contemporary 911S and was created in accordance with the FIA’s homologation rules, which required the construction of at least 500 examples before Porsche could compete in the Group 4 class. Weight-reduction measures include a fiberglass ducktail spoiler, a revised front bumper, thinner glass, and less sound-proofing material. Flared rear wheel arches were also added to accommodate a wider track.

This Touring example was refurbished in 2014 and 2015, including a repaint in its original color combination of Grand Prix White (2201) with blue lettering. It is equipped with a steel rear bumper with overriders and decorative exterior trim, and was optioned with an additional rear apron. A protective film was applied to the hood, front fenders, mirrors, and lights after the completion of the repaint.

Refinished 15″ Fuchs wheels feature blue spokes and polished lips. Pirelli Cinturato tires measure 185/70 up front and 215/60 out back. The four-wheel disc brakes received rebuilt calipers and new lines as needed during the refurbishment. The independent front suspension features MacPherson struts, torsion bars, and an anti-roll bar, while the independent rear suspension is equipped with transverse torsion bars, tubular shock absorbers, and an anti-roll bar. New control arms and bushings were installed in 2014/2015, and the torsion bars were reindexed.

Refurbishment of the black leatherette interior was performed by PBR Restorations between 2014 and 2015 with materials sourced from Autos International. Work included recovering the rear seats and garnish rails, new jump seat straps, and fabricating a new speaker grille. The front seats feature optional headrests along with corduroy inserts, and yellow stitching is present on the seatbelts. Fresh German Perlon carpet was installed in the front trunk during the refurbishment.
