Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Franchise Gets New TV Anime Project

The Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion franchise is getting a new TV anime series project titled SHINKALION: Change the World. A teaser trailer has been also released following the announcement:

Production I.G. (Haikyuu!!, Guilty Crown, Ghost in the Shell) and Signal.MD (Platinum End, The Fire Hunter, Kizuna no Allele) will be animating the series, while Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment (SMDE) will be responsible for the CG animation production. No other details on the staff and cast have been announced as of this writing.

The Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion franchise was made by Japanese toy company Takara Tomy in association with the Japan Railways Group. Its first lineup of toys was released back in March 2015, and is a spin-off of the Plarail model train franchise.

The first anime adaptation from the franchise was animated by studio OLM, with Takahiro Ikezoe as the director. Kento Shimoyama wrote said anime’s script and Toshiyuki Watanabe did the music. The anime aired for 76 episodes at the JNN network in Japan from January 2018 to June 2019. It then sprang an anime film titled Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion the Movie: The Marvelous Fast ALFA-X That Comes From the Future and was released in December 2019; and another anime series titled Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z which aired for 46 episodes from April 2021 to March 2022.

An arcade game titled Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion: Get the Card! Super Evolution Battle was developed and published by Takara-Tomy A.R.T.S, released in 2018.
