63? Lord have mercy. Memories. When we watched this movie as kids on NTA in the 90s, it was as if it was newly shot. Never realised the movie was that old

I clicked with the thought that he would have aged badly but pleasantly surprised that he actually looks very good. He's aged very well.

Looks good, he may have had a stroke or minor nerve problems.

Not necessarily. Some actors are that good, they can move every part of their face to pull off various expressions

Never watched the movie (heard it was interesting) but read the book around 1999. A whole over 700 pages book. Made me understand how deep/hurtful slave trade was. Reason i dont blame some AA's who cried in a video i watched after visiting "slave house/point of no return" used for housing "slaves" before they are transported to America/Europe. Those slave masters where beasts!

I know it wasn't recent but never knew it has been that long for the kunta kinte character to be 63 now. He aged handsomely

No Sir, I'm in my late 30s and I watched it in the 90s and I'm sure it existed before the time I watched it. Very soul provoking!

Cecily Tyson, who died last week at 96, played his mother in ROOTS - Binta, wife of Omoro. That movie was shot 40 something years ago. To think Cecily was actually in her early 50s when she played a girl birthing her first baby. Well, I guess she carried it off.

I read the book Roots as a teenager. Written by Alex Haley. Also, no mention that Levar Burton had a long standing rolwvon the famous TV aeries, Star Trek. For many years. His is a staple TV face and he never got embroiled in any scandal to tarnish his career. Keep up the good work, air.

He also executive produced a recent reboot of roots with younger actors. I guess he did it for the younger generation.
